OTTAWA/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Celine Dion is pregnant with her second child after undergoing fertility treatment at a clinic in New York, her spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
Dion, 41, is due to give birth next May, said spokeswoman Muriel Blondeau.
Dion, who has made no secret of her wish to have another child, already has a 8 year-old son, Rene-Charles, with husband Rene Angelil.
The star ended her "Taking Chances" world tour in February.
"Celine had said that after her tour, she wanted to try again to have a child, and the good news came yesterday," Blondeau said.
It's too early to know if the child is a boy or a girl, Blondeau said. The fertility treatment Dion used to become pregnant is the same procedure she used to have her first child, Blondeau said.
Dion was born the youngest of 14 children in a town near Montreal.
She is one of the world's top selling female singers and last year earned more than $235 million from her first world tour in eight years, according to trade publication Pollstar.
In 2003, she began a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and grossed more than $385 million by the time the final show ended in December 2007.
Dion had been scheduled to return to Las Vegas for another series of shows in 2010, but Blondeau said the singer may delay those shows because of the pending birth.
